It is said in Clogher that the next parish is New York, and with the wind is coming from that atlantic, you will feel like the only person in the world.

Even on a the best days, the little circular bay of Clogher in Co Kerry, is charming, wit the Blasket Islands to the north.

Follow this directly to Dún an Óir, the scene of an famous massacre in 1680 during the second rebellion Desmond when a force of 500 Italian & Spanish soldiers, were attacked by a 4,000-strong English force.

After the soldiers were executed. They were decapitated one by one with their bodies thrown in the harbour and their heads buried in a nearby field known locally as Gort a Ghearradh the Field of the Cutting.
